About this event
"Caregiving in Washington State: What exists and what is needed to support seniors and other vulnerable adults and their caregivers?" A comprehensive study involving interviews with caregivers and elders presenting current and future needs and assessing resources required. Thurston League proposed a study of elder caregiving to the state League for approval.
A study committee was formed and reviewed relevant research and literature, and conducted extensive interviews including with elders, family caregivers and paid caregivers, interviewed professionals in the elder caregiving field, and developed a report and consensus questions. The report was reviewed by a reading committee and technical reviewers and approved by the state Board.
The next step is for local League members to read the report and gather to talk about and make decisions about the discussion/consensus questions. Based on these local League discussions, advocacy positions will be developed for state board consideration. Once approved, these positions will be considered as part of the Program of Work at the June 2025 LWVWA convention.
Join us to learn about the in-depth research and landscape of Eldercare availability now and what the future of Eldercare may be in the future - We hope you will participate in the LWVTC consensus process.
