Bringing our Be a Voter campaign 
to High School Students

 

We inform students at 4 high schools about how to pre-register to vote:

Avanti, Black Hills, New Market Skills Center, Tumwater, and Yelm


if you are 16-17 years-old, you can pre-register to vote as a Future Voter!

A 17-year old who will be 18 by the Nov General Election can vote in the Aug Primary


In 2024, a new state law allows 17 year-olds
to vote in the Presidential Primary & the Primary Election
if they will be 18 before the General Election!!

LWVWA Video Contest 2024

The League of Women Voters of Washington Election Credibility Committee is sponsoring a video contest to promote election credibility to the public in an informative and persuasive way. This will encourage students to learn accurate information about WA state voting and elections and share that knowledge with friends, family and the public.

In 2023, in a pilot contest, t
wo winning videos by high school students were awarded prizes by the League of Women Voters of Washington. The topic was Election Credibility in 3 areas: voting rights, mail-in ballots, and ballot security.

Where can I find a ballot?
If you are registered to vote in your county, you will receive a ballot in the mail. If you have moved since you registered, you will need to change your address. Go to VoteWa.gov to change your address or you will not receive a ballot.

Just vote on the issues and candidates you feel strongly about. You don’t have to completely fill out your ballot. It will still be processed and counted.

A local Voters’ Pamphlet is mailed to every registered voter about three weeks before the Primary and the General Elections. The Secretary of State’s Office also sends a Voters’ Guide when there are state-wide elections. You can watch Candidate Forums the League of Women Voters of Thurston County produces to learn much more . The League of Women Voters does not support any political candidates or political parties

The Voters’ Pamphlet is for the entire county. You will vote for the ones in your district.

You can re-register using a paper form, download a form, or fill out a form at the Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Voter Services office located at: 2400 Evergreen Park Dr. SW, Olympia, WA 98502.

Elections officials report that printed signatures are legal.

Go to VoteWa.gov, and you will be able to verify whether your ballot was accepted. If it wasn’t accepted because you forgot to sign the envelope, you will receive a letter explaining what to do.

After signing the envelope, put it in the US mail or a ballot box before 8pm on election day. No stamp is required.

What is a Future Voter?
A Future Voter is a teen who is pre-registered to vote at age 16 or 17 and will be automatically eligible to vote during the first election after their 18th birthday. If you turn 18 between the primary and general elections, you can now vote as a 17-year-old in the primary!
